How is it even possible that someone can WRITE like this? It's like...when cummings writes, it's BEYOND words, he strikes your heart and whispers those words that are so a part of you that they seem to echo your very soul. ok i'm just going to post some of my all-time favorite poems (it's another cummings day, shut up brenda, don't laugh), starting with my #1:

somewhere i have never travelled,gladly beyond
any experience,your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightlest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriuosly) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me,i and
my life will shut very beautifully,suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody,not even the rain,has such small hands

-e.e. cummings

may my heart always be open to little
birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old

may my mind stroll about hungry
and fearless and thirsty and supple
and even if it's sunday may i be wrong
for whenever men are right they are not young

and may myself do nothing usefully
and love yourself so more than truly
there's never been quite such a fool who could fail
pulling all the sky over him with one smile

-e.e. cummings

let it go-the
smashed word broken
open vow or
the oath cracked length
wise-let it go it
was sworn to
go

let them go-the
truthful liars and
the false fair friends
and the boths and
neithers-you must let them go they
were born
to go

let all go-the
big small middling
tall bigger really
the biggest and all
things-let all go
dear
so comes love

-e.e. cummings

ok for some reason i'm IN LOVE with the song tupac "still ballin"...hahah it's like a revival...i was obsessed with it when it first came out and then i put it on my playlist the other day and now I CAN'T STOP listening to it! (of course richard had to make fun of me for putting it on a playlist with all of my chinese and mellow alternative songs which he calls my "sleep mix"...but hey sometimes after some nic or sammi all you want is to listen to TUPAC!) haha but yeah...that song is THE greatest, it always makes me want to dance because it has such a GREAT beat, i don't see how anyone could listen to that song and not at least bop their heads *a little* =) or maybe it's just me...*grin*

so this weekend i went back to sd for my lovely friend angela's crrrazy bday bash...thanks babe for such an awesome time! you're the greatest, and now you're TWENTY! *sigh*...we're getting so old, it's so sad! =( i don't really feel any older though, just wiser *wink wink* no i'm jk. there are so many surprises in life and something new comes almost everyday...i guess the only way to do things is to take them as they are and hope that we'll somehow find our way down this winding path and reach a happy destination.

anyway, i have to get ready to go to the gym now to do some running...i haven't gone on the treadmill in sooo long that my body actually sort of MISSES it! yes, i know, the idea of christine doing any strenuous exercise like running must be shocking to y'all, but i'm not THAT unathletic! just clumsy *blush* =) oh and yayeee i found someone to live in my apartment for next semester so I can go to hong kong now! and my dearest, bestest buddy ANNIE will be there too! it'll be like ucla all over again but without humpty dumpty, the japanese guy (printerbyanychance? i don't think so...HAHA), and yoshinoya late nights. i can't wait! =)

P.S. It's a beautiful day today! =P

current playlist

2. sarah mclachlan- fallen

4. verve pipe- the freshmen
5. ben folds five- brick (thanks dan for re-introducing me to that song =D)
6. radiohead- fake plastic trees, creep, high and dry
7. matchbox 20- bright lights, downfall
8. duncan sheik- barely breathing

On Friendship.

Friendship
is sharing now and laters and diet coke to the background of sex and the city jokes, aim conversations in the middle of the night that let you pour your heart out with complete trust, venting about people and classes and boyfriends, a shared look that erupts in giggles, spontaneous trips to the city in the dead of the night, blasting dishwalla and duncan sheik and radiohead songs in the silence of an enclosed car, a shared cigarette, surprise treat phone calls that last for hours, text messages with smiley faces and exclamation marks, speed walking down durant with food to go and boba, laughing at each other and at yourselves, watching soap operas and drooling over fantasy knights in shining armor, homemade scrumptious banana nut muffins, parties with drinking and dancing and that one guy , safeway cookies and cream-soaked paper towels with chopsticks.

Sometimes those we love most we don't see nearly enough, but what makes them so special is that they're always in your heart, no matter where you go....they're in that cute pencil skirt at arden b or chocolate covered strawberries at godiva, they're in sappy chick flicks and scented candles...in short, they're with you everywhere and anywhere because they've touched your life so deeply that the mark is indelible.

Then there are those who we see often and laugh much with...those who are there at the end of the day when all you want is to unwind, those who are there to listen to your sorrows and heartaches, your joys and ramblings, those who are there to listen to you .

Either way, friendship is about trust, it's about love and acceptance, and best of all, it's about comradeship and identification. It's that one special connection you have with someone that, once made, can never be broken. It's genuine, true, realer than scientific theories studied in classrooms, realer than the rising of the sun and the history of our past.

...to those who have changed my life by making it all the more brighter...i love you!
